Lock bumping or lock picking techniques are essentially the same. The lock
bumping technique enables someone to open a lock with a bump key (an ordinary,
blank, and modified key). One can buy these keys online or he or she can modify
an existing key. Because the bump key is easily operated and the vast majority
of locks are vulnerable to this technique, our homes are at risk. In order to
prevent lock bumping, you should install high security lock or electronic lock,
alarm system, and motion activated outdoor lights. Installation of the
aforementioned products will decrease the likelihood of a forced entry and scare
off potential burglars.
